Rumah Rubah
Sanctuary of the Fox
Rumah Rubah, designed by Studio Jenquel, is built entirely from teak wood and nestled within a 4000 m² tropical garden filled with hundreds of plant species—including century-old Pulai and bodhi trees. A local Balinese temple and a Bale Kulkul (traditional drum tower) sit quietly among the greenery, offering a deeper connection to Bali’s living traditions. But the story of Rumah Rubah doesn’t begin at the entrance. It begins in the stillness—how the wind moves through the trees, how sunlight touches the wood, and in the quiet gaze of two foxes who guard the villa like old spirits. Our task is to carry that feeling forward—to extend its identity into something more layered and alive. This is not just a villa. It’s a space where Japanese simplicity and Balinese soul meet—not blended, but harmonized. A place where opposites don’t clash but slow-dance.
To reflect this, we created a batik-inspired key visual, rooted in elements found throughout the villa. Flowing landscapes recall inherited culture; repeating patterns speak of prosperity; towering pagodas reflect spiritual calm; lotus and palm shapes honor nature’s sacred rhythm; and the foxes—part myth, part memory—serve as gentle protectors of the space. Each detail was drawn from textures and objects within the villa. Together, they tell a story—quiet, grounded, and always evolving.
Signature
The original Rumah Rubah logo was revisited with care—refined to better reflect the villa’s evolving identity and the quiet sophistication of its visual language. We introduced subtle adjustments to form and proportion, enhancing its legibility while preserving its spirit. To bring it into the digital space, the logo was also thoughtfully animated, adding a sense of rhythm and life. This animated version is used across the website—appearing gently on load, echoing the villa’s own quiet arrival and understated elegance. It's not just a mark, but a living signature that anchors the brand with grace and continuity.
A Gentle Landing
The website for Rumah Rubah is designed with simplicity at its core—letting photography, story, and space speak for themselves. It offers a calm, intuitive experience, making it easy for visitors to explore and book without distraction. Subtle illustrations and the villa’s signature key visual are woven in as soft accents—appearing in moments like the preloader and other micro-interactions—adding character without noise. The result is a digital space that mirrors the villa itself: warm, welcoming, and quietly refined.
